Message from the Chairman

Welcome to our Aridland Agriculture Department Web site. Our curriculum offers the students a wide range of opportunities. This curriculum allows for specialization by offering a Horticulture Track, and a Fisheries & Animal Science Track.

Our faculty and staff are dedicated to providing quality experience in each of the programs outlined below

Bachelor Degree in Horticulture:

  1. Crop Production This program emphasize on the production of vegetables, fruit tree and date palm under arid conditions.

  2. Environmental Horticulture The primary area of interest for this program is the outdoor and indoor ornamental plant horticulture and the optimum use of the local species in the floral arrangements and protect them from extinction. Also aims at designing landscape and gardens with taking into consideration both land and water resources.

Bachelor Degree in Marine Fisheries and Animal Science:

  1. Option One: Marine Fisheries: The main task for this program is to provide the scientific basis for the development of aquaculture industry (production of fish and shrimp) using the UAE marine water resources in a water recirculation system. Also the program emphasize on fisheries management, which deals with the aspects of managing marine fish stocks of the Gulf, in the national and the international water.

  2. Animal Science: This program is concerned with the science and business of production and management for the national, and regional domestic livestock species, including dairy cattle, camel, sheep, goat and poultry.

Students may focus on their individual career goals by choosing one of the Department's four curriculum options leading to meaningful careers in the UAE and any other countries world wide.
